Creative Direction of a National Celebration
Mużika Mużika is a national cultural anchor in Malta, a large-scale celebration of Maltese music. This project was the biggest solo-creative undertaking to date, involving the complete creative direction and design execution across all platforms, from the core concept to the live broadcast graphics.
The Core Concept: Fireworks
To capture the energy and cultural significance of the festival, the theme proposed was "Fireworks". This metaphor successfully bridged celebration, community, and the island's rich heritage:
Highlighting Talent:
Fireworks represent the shining talents of Maltese artists, illuminating the festival with their music.
Cultural Unity:
Just as people gather for festas, this symbolizes the festival as a unifying event, bringing the community together through music and linking back to Maltese heritage.
Joy and Pride:
The concept symbolizes the joy, happiness, and pride felt by both the artists and the Maltese audience watching the show.
End-to-End Creative Command
The project spanned the entire visual ecosystem of the festival, requiring seamless collaboration between marketing, production, and broadcast teams:
Broadcast & Stage Design:
Direct liaison with the broadcast graphics animator and production team to adapt the fireworks concept for tv and live stage visuals. This included developing all on-screen graphics (chest supers, song details, and a dynamic scoreboard) designed to maintain legibility and high production value.
Visual Production:
Full creative ownership of the visual assets, including preparing mood-boards, coordinating on-site during the artist photoshoot, and ensuring all deliverables aligned perfectly with the new concept. This included the design of the background/set for the shoot itself.
Digital Execution:
Creation of over 80 unique assets for social media (posts, stories, cover photos) for all 16 participants and Muzika Muzika's social media pages.
